Presentation by Tom Dowds:
This talk will look at the origins of the Forth and Clyde Canal, from the earliest ideas up to the actual making of the waterway.  lt will examine three questions:

1. Why was the canal built and how did the plan come about?

2. Who was responsible for its building, including the great argument between Edinburgh and Glasgow?

3. What problems did the makers face?

THURSDAY 18TH AUGUST – Spirit of Alba – 7.00P.M. – 9.00P.M.

'A Trip Around the UK & Ireland in 6 Whiskies' :  It may be a relaxing two hour trip along the canal but we'll take your taste buds on an exhilarating whisky journey around the UK & Ireland experiencing six sensational whiskies along the way.
